As we draw closer to the end of the first 90 days of 2011, I am inspired to write ‘THANK YOU” in very large, extremely bold letters to our customers. Much is said and taught about the art of customer service – the Golden Rule being “treat them as you would expect them to treat you”. However, little is discussed about the profound impact those same people have on your life well beyond the work-related relationship.
The adage of ‘people buy from people’ is no more apparent than within the halls of any REALTOR®-related tradeshow. Without a doubt, we look forward to seeing our customers, prospects, partners, and even competitors at these various locales. Catching up on business-related issues typically follows well after catching up on each other’s lives in a face-to-face setting. With the rapid integration of social media into our lives, we find ourselves further intertwined with each other on an almost daily basis. Topics of interest, personal events, business accomplishments, and visibility of ‘friend-to-friend’ dialogs gives a new perspective into the person on the other side of the table. This interaction, in my opinion, offers the opportunity to eliminate the ‘table’ completely and work more closely as business partners, the pleasant result of being ‘people’ outside of being ‘businesses’.
Once again, THANK YOU for being you and providing such rich and rewarding relationships to us.
